STA Travel – a global travel specialist with 30 years experience helping students, teachers and young professionals travel the world – today announced that for every order placed on statravel.com on Monday, June 22, 2009, $7 will be donated to support a project providing children in Peru with warm meals, help with their schoolwork and life skills coaching, including sewing, cooking, music, and English.
In addition to donating $7 to the project for all online orders on June 22, STA Travel will match all donations made online, in STA Travel Stores and via its National Call Center to the project from June 22 until June 28.
Customers who purchase from statravel.com on June 22, will automatically have $7 donated by STA Travel to the project in their name and do not have to take any additional steps. Those who wish to make a direct donation to the project and have STA Travel match their donation can do so by visiting statravel.com/planeterra.
“Our vision at STA is to provide opportunities for travelers to fully experience the world and all the wonders it has to offer,” said Scott Hyden, president of STA Travel. “Travel helps us connect with who we are and discover who we can be. This project is an amazing opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of the children in Peru.”
The Peru Streetkids Project
All donations – both from online orders and the direct donations – go to support STA Travel’s Peru Streetkids Project. STA Travel sends hundreds of travelers to the site of the project in Cuzco, Peru, to volunteer every year and is now providing travelers with an opportunity to support the project monetarily.
No matter the amount of the donation, each donation goes a long way towards providing the necessary materials, food and life skills that these children need.
STA Travel Philanthropy
Each year, STA Travel helps students and young professionals travel around the world on volunteer trips to support local communities through building projects, teaching English and working with local families.
The Peru Streetkids Project is STA Travel’s first sponsorship of such a volunteer project and demonstrates the company’s commitment to leaving the countries that their customers and employees visit better than when they arrived.
