STA Travel Opens Its First New Brand Store at the University of Michigan

06.01.2009 – STA Travel – a global travel specialist with 30 years experience helping students, teachers and young professionals travel the world – announced today the opening of its first STA Travel store in the United States with the company’s new logo and branding in the Michigan Union at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Located on the ground floor of the Michigan Union, the new brand store will officially open on Monday, June 8 at 10 a.m. in space previously occupied by part of the Union’s Barnes & Noble-operated bookstore.

The original STA Travel store in the Michigan Union was located next to Ugo’s convenience store, but had to move due to the University’s desire to expand the size of the convenience store. The move allowed STA Travel to rebrand the store with the company’s new logo, look and feel.

“The University of Michigan is one of our premier store locations and this move allowed us to introduce our new brand at the store level to some of our best customers,” said Scott Hyden, president of STA Travel.

The STA Travel rebrand began in May with the introduction of a revamped statravel.com. The new Web site incorporates content from STA Travel’s social media communities, offers inspiring travel guides and has an expanded selection of hotels and hostels.

The new store in the Michigan Union is entirely outfitted, from the mill work to the furniture, in the new STA Travel branding. A new Digital Fare Board has also been installed to give customers the latest prices on discounted airfare to destinations around the world.

To celebrate the opening of the new store, the first 15 visitors on Monday, June 8, will receive a STA Travel gift bag with an assortment of travel goodies.

There will also be raffles each day of the first week the new store is open.

Monday, June 8: A trip to see the pyramids in Egypt.

Tuesday, June 9: A $200 voucher good on tours from STA Travel.

Wednesday, June 10: Two $150 vouchers good for any product from STA Travel.

Thursday June 11: Tour packages for London, Paris and Amsterdam, not including airfare.

Friday, June 12: Two global cell phones and a Eurail pass.

Store Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for Wednesday, when the store is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, when the store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
